In "The Joy of the Gospel" Pope Francis writes:
All of us are called to mature in our work as evangelizers. We want to have better training, a deepening love and a clearer witness to the Gospel. In this sense, we ought to let others be constantly evangelizing us.
We are called to offer others an explicit witness to the saving love of the Lord, who despite our imperfections offers us his closeness, his word and his strength, and gives meaning to our lives. (121)
Each sessions of our parish retreat gradually draws us into a deep intimate relationship with our God.
We see how limitlessly God loves us just as we are - no exceptions. We once again experience the exciting news of Vatican II that we are the People of God; we are the people of God's Kingdom!
Jesus came that we may have life and have it to the full. We learn just how desirable and comforting is this gift of a closer and more intimate life with Jesus. This great gift is freely offered to us. We just need to learn how to respond to the invitation of Jesus to receive his gift of this new life and intimacy; to experience this divine love.
We are guided to make this commitment to Jesus and to accept the gifts that flow from this intimacy. We experience for ourselves this loving presence of Jesus and that of the Holy Spirit.
Finally we learn how to continue to grow in the inner peace and joy of this new found life. We begin to understand our new experiences and to grow in love with each other and with our parish community. This newfound life of inner peace and joy is a natural progression towards a mature and loving friendship and dependence on our God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
